The 16-bit confocal scanner uses a solid state 532 nm DPSS Nd YAG laser and optics calibrated to a 3.5 micrometer excitation spot, enabling sensitive detection of labeled cRNA cDNA on GeneChip arrays. The system supports high-throughput hybridization in the oven for up to 64 arrays and automated wash stain cycles on the fluidics station with independently controlled modules and preprogrammed protocols via GeneChip software. The Expression Console workflow interprets perfect match mismatch probe sets to quantify gene expression and reduce nonspecific signal.
